The Role of the Library in the Digital Age
Thursday, April 27th, 2017

the digital age and the library

Over 100 invited guests from the Silicon Valley tech community attended this unique event at the San Mateo Public Library. Panelists and attendees agreed that libraries are more important than ever in the digital age. As community needs change, libraries will continue to evolve, but they will remain an essential place for people to learn, gather, and exchange ideas. Our esteemed panelists included panel Moderator Greg Lucas (State Librarian of California), Daniel J. Clancy (Nextdoor), Cameron Johnson (Netflix), Karen Kuklin (Gensler) Karen G. Schneider (Sonoma State University Library), David Weekly (Google Rapid Rollout Lab). We also thank our Host Committee and our reception sponsor Cuvée Wine Cellars! Feedback from the event will help us better understand what is needed from a 21st Century library, and how the community can best support it.
